Day 2 started off much like day 1. We got up early and had another sweet breakfast before we got ready and left the Riad to do more shopping in the Souks.
Once again we spend a few hours wandering around the Souks, which were much busier today. There was also more stalls and restaurants open.
Stalls that we hadn’t even realised were there were suddenly open and their stall owners were persistently trying to pursade anyone going past to go in and check out what they had to offer.
For lunch we decided to stay away from Western and try something typically Moroccan so we found ourself in the shaded rooftop of a restaurant with a fab view of the square, perfect for people watching, and we ordered a chicken couscous and a vegetable couscous.
When it arrived we were shocked at the size and both looked at each other and said ‘I think we could have got one to share’.
Honestly, it looked like a whole giant bag of Tesco couscous had been cooked and put on each of our plates… We gave it a good go but about half way through I felt like I was going to be sick if I ate another bite. You know the kinda full I mean right?
The photo of my couscous doesn’t look very appealing but it was honestly really good. I had also already eaten some, hence the mess 😂
Stuffed to the brim we went to a few more of the market stalls before we decided it was time to go back to the Riad and chill for the rest of the day.
As we were still so full from our lunch we decided it was better to just have a light dinner. This ended up being a little plate of potato, rice and various veg. It was delicious and just the right amount of food.
After dinner we went back to our favourite little spot on the rooftop and finished our wine before calling it a night. Bit of a theme going on here right?
My post about my last two days in Marrakech will follow soon.
